Sexist, Misogynist Dinosaur

No, the blog's title doesn't apply or refer to me... wait, maybe it does.

The title of this blog, to any self-respecting fan, of course refers to James Bond 007 - as described by M in the 1995 GoldenEye film:
M: You don't like me, Bond. You don't like my methods. You think I'm an accountant, a bean counter more interested in my numbers than your instincts.
James Bond: The thought had occurred to me.
M: Good, because I think you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur. A relic of the Cold War, whose boyish charms, though wasted on me, obviously appealed to that young woman I sent out to evaluate you.
James Bond: Point taken.
I am a Bond fan.  But let me be clear, I am a fan of the character in its collective incarnation - from the books of his creator, Ian Flemming, to the authorised authors, the fan fiction, and of course, the cinematic franchise.
Each and every source of the Bond character, of course, has its share of my personal criticism.  I have some personal views of Flemming's development of Bond through the original books.  I don't always agree with the directions or even writing styles of Amis, Gardner, Benson, Faulks, Deaver, etc.  And don't get me started with the movies - the good, the bad, and the ugly indeed!

But the concept of a suave calculating philandering adventuring hunter-killer gentleman-playboy in the international espionage and counter-terrorism world just seems to tickle my fancy.  Like all Bond fans, the escapism is what drives our love and passion to the character.  And for that, returning to the first sentence of this blob entry, it just might be an apt description of me.

So what is this blog going to be about?  Well, aside from being my first blog (talk about being a dinosaur!), it serves to give me an outlet to write - Twittering is *NOT* writing!  This will be a place to let me talk about my personal views of all things Bond, whether it be praise or criticism.  And occasionally, I may meander into subjects not Bond related.

That said, if you happen to find this blog and choose to drop in and read what I write, note that I am not here to pander to anyone else's views.  It is your choice to agree with (and stick around to continue reading) or disagree with me (and go write your own blog).  The views I offer are my own, or views from other Bond fans and other sites and sources of information that I agree with and will share here.
